Heraldo de Madrid - Karoline Lima Confirms End of Engagement to Flamengo Defender Léo Pereira

Digital influencer Karoline Lima confirmed the end of her engagement to Flamengo defender Léo Pereira on Friday, revealing she has moved out of their shared residence in Rio de Janeiro with her four-year-old daughter, Cecília.

Speaking during a live Instagram broadcast, Lima explained that the decision to separate was hers and had been considered for several months. She stated that the relationship dynamic was no longer functioning as intended.

"It wasn't working anymore; I wasn't having my expectations met; I wanted much more than what was being offered to me," Lima said.

Lima addressed circulating rumors regarding the cause of the split, firmly denying any allegations of infidelity or a violent altercation. She also clarified that she has no intention of reconciling with the athlete.

"I am not going to diminish myself to fit into a relationship that doesn't fit me," she said.

The couple had publicly announced their engagement in July after resuming their relationship in May. Their romantic history began in late 2023, followed by a public confirmation of their dating status in 2024.

Lima also addressed speculation about the return of her engagement ring, which she received from Pereira in July. She rejected comparisons to actress Marina Ruy Barbosa, who has faced public pressure regarding her own engagement rumors, stating she would keep the jewelry.

"What do you think, guys, that I will return the ring like they are making hell out of Marina Ruy Barbosa's life? I am not returning the ring," Lima said. "The ring is well kept there, guys, it will stay here, okay?"

Lima suggested that information about the separation may have been leaked to gossip pages by a family member living with Pereira. She noted that her close circle was unaware she had left the athlete's home.

The announcement surprised followers who had seen recent public interactions between the couple. On October 26, Lima praised a post from Pereira, writing, "Impeccable, love! Now let's see who wins at Uno." Five days prior to the announcement, Pereira commented "Phenomenal" with a heart emoji on her Halloween post.

Just two days before confirming the split, Lima had discussed her family plans when asked about another pregnancy. She responded that she wanted children but not at that moment.

Pereira is also the father of seven-year-old Helena and five-year-old Matteo from his previous relationship with Tainá Militão.
